I'm back from the dead to give you my best of 2018 brackets
No hate but 2018 kind of sucked for movies to the point where I could barely come up with 10 of my favorites from the year, but I did watch a ton of good shit for the first time this year. So here's part 1 of the good stuff.
Pt 1. Jan - June

Since you probably can't decipher any of the writing on this gd bracket that took me way too long to make, here's a description of some of my choices (winners in italics) :
Round 1: If you're too lazy to read there's a slideshow of winners at the end
Phantom Thread v Darkest Hour: My reasoning? 3 letters: PTA
Blame v Super Dark Times: I honestly have no clue what the hell I saw in SDT but that shit was good
Too Funny To Fail v Icarus: These were basically tied but I had to give it to the one that made me laugh.
BPM v Parting Glances: a tale of two AIDS films. Though Parting Glances did give me the semi hots for Steve Buscemi, BPM made me cry in french for 3 whole hours.
Drugstore Cowboy v Weekend: If this was Matt Dillon v whoever the handsome men of weekend were then Drugstore would win, but alas that wasn't an option on the bracket.
A Quiet Place v Hereditary: Both were great, and I do live for Ms. Collette, but Quiet Place was scarier.
We Are the Best v Smithereens: I love punk rock, and I apparently love Swedish punk rock even more.
Other People v James White: I love Molly Shannon and I love Cynthia Nixon, but my love for Jesse Plemmons and Bradley Whitford overrides whoever James was. Sorry Cynthia!
Insomnia '02 v Insomnia '97: Christopher Nolan andd Al Pachino anddd Robin Williams anddddd Hillary Swank !?! Yes.
Loveless v Dog Day Afternoon: Russia is weird and so is Loveless, so DDA it is! I'm also going to marry John Cazale in another life so there's that too.
The Piano v Angel Baby: I don' know what in the New Zealand hell The Piano was but I love love love that shit.
Midnight Cowboy v Mean Streets: As we can tell by my feelings on The Piano, I may have the hots for Harvey Kietel. Also lets state the obvious, De Niro will always be able to get it.
Days of Heaven v Badlands: My one true love Sam Shepard and pre hampster Richard Gere, that's all.
Tully v Junebug: Panthers fans and Amy Adams ohhhhh helllll yesssss!
American Animals v Falling Down: idk they're both equal, but I had to choose one.
Eighth Grade v Beautiful Thing: I want a Ste, but also I am Kayla so Eighth Grade it is.
Round 2: lol I'm too lazy to keep explaining this shit.
Phantom Thread v Super Dark Times
Too Funny to Fail v BPM
Weekend v A Quiet Place
We Are the Best v Other People
Insomnia '02 v Dog Day Afternoon
The Piano v Mean Streets
Days of Heaven v Junebug
Falling Down v Eighth Grade
Round 3:
Phantom Thread v BPM
Weekend v We Are the Best
Dog Day Afternoon v The Piano
Days of Heaven v Eighth Grade
Round 4:
Phantom Thread v Weekend
The Piano v Eighth Grade
Final Round: I might be about to let you down with this pick.
Weekend v Eighth Grade
That's right I chose both. Why, you might be asking? Because I can. Thank u.
